Dr. Jacob Adserballe, a trusted name in veterinary care in Lethbridge, has expanded his well-established practice with a bold new venture: a 24/7 pet hospital in North Lethbridge. Drawing on decades of experience, Dr. Adserballe wanted a design for more than just a veterinary facility—he envisioned a state-of-the-art hospital designed to support both exceptional patient care and the well-being of the dedicated professionals who provide it.

As with any business, the process and systems that are established help to provide a framework for efficiency and professional service. Dr Adserballe also applied this same scrutiny to the buildings’ unique systems to enable the building to meet Net-zero energy requirements. The commitment to sustainability and efficiency required specialist designs for the building envelope, and the electrical and mechanical systems within the building.

The hospital includes a partial basement housing the mechanical systems, a main floor dedicated to veterinary services, and a second floor featuring thoughtfully designed staff accommodations. The clinical areas are spacious and efficiently organized, with soaring cathedral ceilings that hang over the highly organized workflow systems going on below. Just as much care was put into designing rest and relaxation spaces for staff—areas that offer crucial support in a profession known for its emotional and physical demands.

This new facility is more than an expansion; it’s a model for the future of veterinary care—where innovation, compassion, and sustainability come together to serve both animals and the people who care for them.
